Live | The New Roses [& The Dirty Denims]- Nieuwe Nor-Heerlen [NL]

On Thursday, October 31 [or Halloween eve], The New Roses were performing as part of their ‘Attracted To Danger’ tour in poppodium Nieuwe Nor in Heerlen. What you call a home game for me and since I have seen this band at work before, it is certainly no punishment to see vocalist Timmy Rough and his men at work.

SUPPORT ACT: THE DIRTY DENIMS

As support the friends of The Dirty Denims were on stage. As usual with this band from Eindhoven, we were treated to an energetic set. The band did have to change their bass player again. This position is now filled by Han Ernest. From the first moment the joy splashed off the stage. The sound could have been a bit better, but it was okay.

,,Ready, Steady, Go!” and ,,Fit In Stand Out” kicked off the set list and at a fast pace. The already well-filled Nieuwe Nor got an impression of what The Dirty Denims have to offer. No Nonsense High Energy Rock and Roll. No less than 10 songs were fired at us and all the usual show elements were included. I am sure The Dirty Denims made some new friends in Heerlen again.

HEADLINER: THE NEW ROSES

After a short change over, it was time for The New Roses. It is clear that the band is in the middle of their fine European tour, because the band sounds like a well-oiled, tight machine so to speak. Timmy Rough’s voice is in a very good shape and the rest of the band, Dizzy Daniels [guitar], Hardy [bass], Norman Bites [guitar] and Urban Benz [drums] look wonderfully relaxed on stage. More importantly, they all clearly feel like having a party in Heerlen.

Kicking off with the title track from their new album `Attracted To Danger’ and then going full throttle to ,,Bring The Thunder”. What strikes me is that every time I see the band, they seem to get better. And that’s certainly a compliment. Especially guitarist Norman Bites claims a leading role on stage more and more, with his wonderful guitar work and beautiful solos. But also the harmony vocals are again more than excellent.

The old and new songs blend wonderfully and even at the moments when the throttle is released, The New Roses know how to keep the attention of the audience. Like for example during ,,For A While” or during the breathtaking acoustic solo performance of ,,Hold Me Up” by Timmy.

As fans of melodic hard rock, The New Roses are now a band that cannot be left out, and in fact, this band is mandatory fare to see live, because they never disappoint.

The New Roses again came, saw and conquered the hearts of the audience in Heerlen. Top Show.
