Review | Dynazty – Game Of Faces
Nuclear Blast Records
Dynazty is on album No. 9 with ‘Game Of Faces’. Did the move from AFM to Nuclear Blast Records affect this band’s musical path? I don’t think so, the band around founder guitarist Love Magnussen and vocalist Nils Molin is actually sailing in similar musical waters than on their previous records. And why change anything about a formula that is clearly paying off for the band. Just like on previous albums, Dynazty delivers quality.
CAREFULLY CRAFTED
On ‘Game Of Faces’, the melodic metal of this Swedish five-piece is delivered in a great sounding and well produced way, and the songs on the album are again carefully crafted. Vocalist Nils Molin puts the icing on the cake with his vocal lines and melodies.
Fat riffs, pounding drums, flying guitar solos and catchy choruses mark this album. And should you feel the need to hear a sensitive ballad from the band, well you won’t find one on `Game Of Faces’. Here it is full throttle pounding for 11 songs.
A BIT SIMILAR
,,Call Of The Night’’ opens the album in bombastic fashion, after which the title track ,,Game Of Faces’’ [which features a fat Rammstein-like riff] picks up the pace nicely as well.
,,Devilry Of Ecstacy’’ and ,,Die To Survive’’ also apply this song structure. And so we actually go through the 11 songs and that might also be the minor flaw of this album. Whether you put on song 1 or 9, it all seems a bit similar and the variation in terms of structure could be a bit more for me personally.
DYNAZTY – THE CONCLUSION
Fans of Dynazty probably won’t care, because they can just blindly buy ‘Game Of Faces’. Because yes, once again a fine album is delivered. And if I had to name an outlier on the album, I would go for closing track ,,Mystery’’, which sums up the whole album nicely and captures the spirit of the album perfectly.
