Review | Magic Kingdom – Blaze Of Rage

Massacre Records

Founded in 1998, Magic Kingdom (hailing from Belgium), now release their sixth studio album, called ‘Blaze Of Rage’ and it is a concept album dealing with the eternal fight between good and evil. The album is a 100% pure example of bombastic, old-school power symphonic metal and for fans of that sort of music ‘Blaze Of Rage’ is a must have album.

A MORE PROGRESSIVE SIDE

After the almost magic-symphonic intro called ,,Sanctus Maleficius” the band, consisting of Michael Vescera (vocals), Dushan Petrossi (guitars), Vasility Molchanov (bass guitar) and Michael Brush (drums), burst into the epic ,,The Great Rebellion”; a track clocking in over nine minutes filled with wild piano passages, great vocals, melodic guitar hooks and even a grunt at the end. ,,The Great Rebellion”, a true neoclassical metal song, also features an awesome duel between the guitar and the keyboards. ,,Undead At The Gates” shows an even more progressive side of Magic Kingdom, as this track stands out due to the formidable chorus and the impressive melodic passages throughout the entire track.

MAGIC KINGDOM – THE CONCLUSION

,,The Great Retribution/Metallic Tragedy Chapter Three” is the highlight of the album as this one is truly diverse, featuring bombastic arrangements, opera-like singing with guest musicians Geraldine Gadaut (soprano) and Riccardo Cecchi (tenor) and some awesome tempo changes and solos indeed. The album ends with the rather obligatory power ballad ,,Lonely In The Universe”. However, overall ‘Blaze Of Rage’ is must for lovers of symphonic power metal and do not forget to play it loud indeed!
