THE DEAD DAISIES-Make Some Noise
Steamhammer/SPV
This band is more or less a hard rock version of The Travelling Wilburys. That group had pop greats like Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne together as a band making music. Since their start in 2012 The Dead Daisies have also been a sort of an all star band. Two albums have been produced by the group in various line-ups. The only steady member of the band is guitarist David Lowy who started the group together with singer Jon Stevens (Noiseworks). At this moment in time in 2016 The Dead Daisies consists of Lowy, drummer Brian Tichy, bass player Marco Mendoza, singer John Corabi and the latest recruit, guitarist Doug Aldrich who joined in the beginning of this year. All these guys have earned their stripes in bands like Foreigner, Thin Lizzy, The Scream, Whitesnake, Mötley Crüe and Dio, just to mention a few. The goal of this group is to revive old classic rock and roll and to have fun playing live and in the studio. Recorded in Nashville with producer Marti Frederiksen at the controls The Dead Daisies give us twelve kick ass rock and roll songs including covers of ,,Fortunate Son’’ (Creedence Clearwater Revival) and ,,Join Together’’ (The Who). No nonsense, no thrills, no fancy shit, just straight forward classic rock with shitloads of guitars. Doug Aldrich must feel right at home in this outfit, as does John Corabi who is in fine form. The sound reminds me a lot of Aerosmith in their better days, but then Frederiksen has worked with that band that gave us so many great albums. This is a great line-up but do not be surprised if, when you catch them on stage, someone has left the band, because at the end of the day The Dead Daisies rotate their players quite often. Whoever is in the band, they will produce some beautiful noise as they do on their third CD.
